We all know that mere theoretical knowledge without any real time experience is nothing; hence, it’s mandatory to undergo an internship programme that will teach you the nitty-gritties of construction. An internship is a pragmatic execution of the designing and building aspects. There are two types of internship- the first one is the seasonal one, which a student can pursue at will by seeking a summer job for smaller projects. Whereas, the latter is mandatory that requires students to enrol themselves in an institute affiliated by the CoA. Although, internships don't offer much money, yet is significant step towards academic growth and resume building.

4. Procure Licence to Construct

If you’ve successfully completed your bachelor or master’s degree in architecture, it does not mean that you can start working immediately. To make a full use of your degree, it’s necessary that you are recognised as a licensed professional by the Council of Architecture in India (CoA); which can be done only after clearing the Architectural Registration Examination (ARE). This regulatory government body gives you a license to practice in the country after you submit all the paperwork carrying your credentials with them. Most of the architects planning to climb the ladder also consider getting certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB). So, take the liberty to get yourself licensed before you begin shaping people’s home.

5. Associate Yourself with Reputed Construction Companies

If you have a keen mind, sharp observation and an active imagination besides a great academic qualification and licence, then now is the time that you begin practising. It’s already evident that we are living in a modern era where technologies keep improvising, and newer methods of architecture are always cascading. So, it’s always advisable that you tell the interviewer your qualities and grab that coveted job offer. And, while you are associated with a good firm, keep looking for opportunities wherein you can upgrade yourself and let your handiwork speak volumes about your industriousness, dexterity and calibre.
